History:
The A-10 Thunderbolt, commonly known by its nickname Warthog or Hog, was manufactured by Fairchild-Republic. The Hog’s primary mission is to provide Close Air Support (CAS) of ground forces by attacking tanks, armored vehicles, and other ground targets, also providing a limited air interdiction role. It is the first U.S. Air Force aircraft designed exclusively for Close Air Support. They are simple, effective and survivable twin-engine jet aircraft that can be used against all ground targets, including tanks and other armored vehicles. The first A-10 Thunderbolt flew was on May 10 1972, and a total of 715 A-10s have since been produced.
